Young DaVincis
For Love of Learning phase, ages 8-12.
Young DaVincis are interested in learning about everything!
We learn with all subjects integrated, just like they are in real life. Everything is connected to the whole and this makes learning meaningful. This class provides a springboard for exploration to be continued at home.
Young daVincis will meet on Tuesdays starting this Fall.
The class:
* THE SPARK: We meet in the morning for a field trip or "being-there-experience", to spark the interest of our Love-of-Learners and expose them to new environments, people and concepts.
* FANNING THE FLAMES: In the afternoon we begin hands-on explorative inquiries that build on the morning's experience.
* TEAMS: Periodically, Young DaVincis meet in small groups for on-going collaborative projects.
Blocks:
Young DaVincis meets for blocks of 5 weeks, with two weeks off in between. There are 5 blocks per year.
Theme for 2009-2010 year: Raiders of the Renaissance Mind
We'll be studying "renaissance" minds from history including Edison, Einstein, Henry Ford, daVinci, Galileo and the Wright Brothers, as well as the Renaissance Era.
We start with our own renaissance minds on September 1st for Brain Week!
Fees:
Members: $25 per block, $15 per additional sibling
Non-members: $35 per child per block
Parents must attend.

Junior DaVinci Group
For core kids, younger than 8.
Meets during Young daVincis. Optional project class for ages 5-7: $10/block per child.
