About American Liberty Academy
ALA's mission is to provide high-quality educational opportunities for homeschooling families in the Champaign-Urbana, IL area. As a community that supports the culture and values of the family, we strive to do this as economically as possible.
The Academy is based on the American style of Leadership Education, recently described in the book "A Thomas Jefferson Education" by Oliver DeMille.

* InspirationThis style of education respects the naturally-occurring developmental stages of the human life, supports the cycles of living, and focuses on individualized education based on the student's needs, abilities and goals.
Latin-based leadership education asks how to be powerful. Greek-based asks how to gain knowledge. The American Style is based on the Hebrew model. We learn about power and how to use it. We gain a great deal of knowledge through study. But our main question is "WHAT IS RIGHT?" One can only find the answer to this question by turning to God.
American Liberty Academy recognizes that a nation cannot be free unless it remains moral. We support families in teaching their children fundamental core values, and we believe this teaching is essential. As a group, we recognize the existence of God or a higher power, but we don't define that to our member families or to teach doctrines to our students. Students are welcome to freely share what they believe, especially the scholar phase students who are often invited to share what they believe is the right choice in different situations, and why.
This is the education necessary for citizens of a free society.
